On June 6th residents and staff at Birch Green care Home, Skelmersdale gathered together in the sunny garden to remember and celebrate the 74th anniversary of the Normandy landings, also known as D-Day.
Residents joined in with a sing along to songs including ‘the white cliffs of Dover’ and ‘we’ll meet again’ while waving flags.
Once everyone had sang until their hearts content, a treat of afternoon tea was served under the gazebo. Delicious cakes such as swiss roll, pink ‘n’ whites and fruit tarts were served on union jack cake trays.
After everyone had finished afternoon tea, residents discussed their memories of D-Day and reminisced about family members who were part of the war.
A lovely day was had by all.
