Quality

Staff at Riversway are dedicated to providing high quality care for residents, their carers, relatives and significant others, in addition to service developers in the Local Authority and Primary Care Trusts.

We also work with the local Hospice staff who have recommended patients to Riversway who require on-going care for progressive illness.

Riversway Nursing Home is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who provide detailed reports on the quality of the services offered by the home. These inspections, often unannounced, are viewed positively by the management team and reflect the quality of care provided.

The home consistently meets, and exceeds, the set standards and current CQC reports are available within the home for residents and relatives to read and judge our quality of care based on an independent assessment.

Dignity and respect for the individual is paramount to staff at Riversway. To demonstrate their commitment to this, and in line with government guidelines, three staff are registered as Dignity Champions within the home. Their purpose is to ensure staff are trained in these aspects of care and to participate in local up-dates and training. All staff receive training on maintaining dignity and respect as part of their Induction process and on-going regular up-dates. Every member of staff has been issued with pocket-sizes ‘Dignity in Care’ cards listing the ten basic steps relating to this.

Riversway was the first home in the Bristol area to have Dignity Champions and continues to lead the way in this area.

Monthly Residents’ meetings are held, and minuted, and residents’ actively encouraged to attend and raise any issue relating to the service provided. All team managers attend to note and address issues raised.

As a demonstration to our commitment to measurable quality, we are currently implementing a Quality Management System based on ISO 9001. However, we are aware that whilst the quality of care can be measured and assessed through reports, residents and relatives tell us Riversway has an immeasurable ethos based on our philosophy of person-centred care.
