Fun loving Agnes MacCall enjoyed a 90th birthday to remember thanks to the cheeky skills of fellow Birch Green Care Centre residents.
Cake decorating apprentices Edna Gregory and Mildred Johnson followed the instructions of activities co-ordinator Karen House to produce a novelty cake featuring a Scotsman lifting his kilt - to reveal his rear view!
Agnes, who was born on January 29, 1920, was married to a Scotsman her late husband John.
It was while flicking through a cake decorating manual that Edna and Mildred saw the cake idea and decided to copy it for Agnes who found it highly amusing when they presented it at her birthday party.
Her face was a picture! reports Karen, who has been giving interested residents lessons in sugarcraft skills.
Family and friends joined Agnes at a celebration party in the quiet lounge at Birch Green on January 29. Despite her grand old age, Agnes enjoyed a dance to mark the occasion. A family member read a specially written poem in her honour and she was presented with a second slightly more conservatively decorated- cake!
Her niece Margaret Wignall added: The family could see how settled and happy Agnes is at Birch Green and a good time was had by all.
