#CaringHeroes - Mandy Berry

Mandy has worked at Affinity Supporting People since 2014 and she is based at one of our local support services as a support worker.

Over the last few months Mandy has been successfully promoting healthy nutritious meals, working closely with the people we support to help them to choose healthy meals of their choice. Mandy helped and supported them to create a personalised house menu file with a list of ingredients and clear instructions on how to make the meals of their choice from scratch whenever they wish.

Meals have included adding things like spinach, a wider range of vegetables and the introduction of new herbs to their meals. One of the people we support really doesn’t like eating vegetables but he agreed to try the new healthy meals with vegetables in and they concluded that the spinach dish was the best tea he had ever eaten with his housemates.
All the people we support, staff and families all compliment Mandy about her healthier meal menus.

Mandy has had a massive impact on meal planning and meal preparation which she is now going to encourage and promote throughout the rest of the service.

Thank you Mandy for always going the extra mile – You are one of Springhill Care’s #CaringHeroes Congratulations.
(Mandy was nominated by Christine Murray, Team Leader at Affinity Supporting People).
