How we work...

Nobody understands better than Affinity what a massive step it is moving into a supported living environment.

The people we support may be coming to us from hospitals, residential schools or the comfort of their parents' homes.  That is why people are invited to meet and greet whereby the person has an opportunity to put names to faces.

That is why we take a person centred approach to make sure your decision to use our service is the right one for you.

After referral, we make it our job to get to know you properly through our holistic assessment process, this could mean taking you out to lunch, visiting you at home; introducing you to staff and other people you may choose to share a home with.

There's no rush to make up your mind. Only when you're sure that we're right for you, do we begin the transition period. Again there's no hurry. It can take a month or three months to prepare you to move into your new home. You'll begin with full day visits, then overnight and weekend stays when staff will take you out to explore the local area.

When you're ready to move in, we welcome you with a simple question: what do you want us to do for you? You tell us your goals and dreams and we'll help you achieve them. Not everybody wants to be an astronaut - some people just want to be able to do their own shopping, banking and cook their own tea, go to work or college. We'll show you how.
